Today’s fast moving industry places intense demands on young performers who are required now, more than ever to enter the workplace multi-skilled, resilient and prepared to undertake gruelling rehearsal periods and workloads.
pro.former is a series of workshops and masterclasses created to form the professional performers of the future and provide professional development opportunities to those who have already embarked on their performance journey.
They have been designed by industry Producers and Creatives to simulate professional working environments, place performers at the heart of a fast-paced rehearsal process and encourage them to work at all times, at the top of their game. Our aim is to build, instil and develop the skills that the industry requires from its future workforce in a safe and encouraging environment.
These are not ‘classes’ that focus on continuing to teach performance disciplines. Nor are they sessions devoted to further developing core performance technique. pro.former are a series of intensive workshops that will coach you to build the additional skills (away from performance technique) that are necessary to work and succeed in ‘real world’ settings.
Our workshops coach and develop skill in many areas including, but not limited to:
- Fast pickup and retention of material
- Processing high volumes of performance material simultaneously
- ‘Overnight’ learning
- Working under pressure and against the clock
- Taking and responding to direction
- Dealing with changes
- Building resilience to receiving critique
- Dealing with stressful periods and intense workloads
- Understanding the overall creative process
- Seeing ‘the bigger picture’ on all scales of production
- Working as an ensemble and as a soloist
- Working autonomously
- Personal Prep – ‘Bringing something to the table’ during rehearsal
- Audition technique and repertoire
